While Radetzky get away to from Tosa Door, Charles Alberto crossed the Ticino, doing proper the flag of the revolution. But the blaze was short and the Piedmontese army have to take back the street of the return. And the foreigner returned to Milan.

In the 1859 thanks to the diplomatic ability of the Piedmontese minister Count Camillo Benso di Cavour, during the II War of Independence the France-Piedmontese army crossed the Ticino and in the battle of Magenta the Austrians were hunted definitely.

On 8 June 1859 Victor Emmanuel II and Napoleon II entered in Milan, and was welcomed with enthusiasm by the population. Milan was englobed in the newborn Kingdom of Italy (1861), under the king Victor Emmanuel II.
