St.Ambrose, the saint of Milan
Ambrose was born at Tréviri (Germany) in 340 AD from a noble and rich Roman family.
You tells that he had just been born, when a swarm of bees came to place him on his mouth.

In the 23 years of his bishopric, Ambrose lavished him with zealous love in works of charity and assistance; passionately he fought against the injustices, the vices and the soprusis; he wrote deep works of faith and composed sacred hymns, giving origin to the liturgy that had called "Ambrosiana".
Besides these activities of pastor of souls, he had brave initiatives against whoever it made him guilty of impiety or cruelty. He didn't hesitate to fight empress Justine's pretensions that she wanted to hand over the Milanese churches to the Aryans, her favorite.
Famous it is the episode of when Ambrogio fiercely opposed him to the Teodosio emperor. The emperor, reach Milan, after having completed the terrible massacre of the innocent citizens in Tessalonica (Greece), he tried to enter the Cathedral of the city. Ambrose stopped himt on the threshold forcing to prostrate him in the dust entreating forgiveness before granting him the entry in the church.
The saint Bishop died in the year 397, regretted by the Milaneses that they had seen to glow in him the highest qualities of their thoughts.
With Ambrogio, besides obtain a great moral power, the Milanese Church became wealthy of magnificent basilicas that, with the superb existing monuments,they already made of Milan one of the most splendid centers of the Latin civilization and the Christianity of that epoch.
